Not much fishing was done recently. Working on the house, chilling out and getting for the Summer gig. If you want to put in a fly order, give me a shout--if I have the pieces and parts on hand, I'll do my best to get it done. Please, be polite when ordering flies, I do not have time for Condescending People. I do not have to sell you flies. So, if you want to act all high and mighty.....probably not getting any flies. Catfishing and smallmouth bass fishing should be very productive this 4th of July weekend. Stay safe and head to the mountains. No rioting going on there. Local trout waters might be very warm, so if you need to trout fish, head to Central PA or visit a nice and shady Class A wild trout stream. MOTHRA fly will be killer along with many other terrestrial patterns.

Trout fishing is still productive, water temps are starting to climb. River fishing has been excellent. Smallies have come to life and catfish are about to spawn. Seen some dandy carp landed the other day. Can't catch them from your couch, so please, "Live to be OnTheWater".

Catfishing has been productive. No flatheads yet, but a few Channel Catfish on the board. Trout fishing remains HOT. Sulphur, Cahill, Slate Drake, BWO and caddis are all producing. Swinging softhackles or wetflies in the riffles and runs has been really paying off. Landed a dandy wild brown trout on a Meaty Treat.
A dude in Philly just landed a new state record Flathead Catfish. The SKUKE is loaded with big fish and I'm certain, Blue Marsh Reservoir has some 60 pound flatties swimming in it.
Vin and I did well while out smallmouth bass fishing. Bite was good, but we ran into some rather disgusting anglers who had no clue and forced us to vacate our spot. They, in turn moved to our spot. Etiquette goes a very long way so that we can all enjoy the water. If you have no clue what you are doing, go fish a lake. Plenty of room to cast, make mistakes and have fun.
Can't catch them from your couch, so get out there and "Live to be OnTheWater"
Vin's dandy wild brown trout he caught while out fishing by himself. Fish took a Cahill dry fly.

Past week was odd with some very cold weather shutting the bugs down. Still able to find some caddis flitting about and the trout would take a dry caddis. Still plenty of fish to be caught. Hendrickson Egg Layer dry fly has received attention as of late. Sulphurs are starting to get their hatch on. BWOs are still a good bet on most waters. A size 16 BH Soft-Hackle BWO has been a great fly to toss around this year. Penns Creek is still high, but the bugs don't care. March Browns are popping off according to Bruce Fisher, Penns Creek Angler. If you need a wild trout stream net, give me a shout as Kenny has ordered some Plastic Dipped nets. They look amazing. I have posted pics on the 2Bonthewater and Vin's Bug Shoppe FACEBOOK pages. If you want one, let me know and I'll get it worked out for you.

This past week was OUTSTANDING fly fishing wise. Trout were all over caddis patterns. Surface, subsurface--it didnt' matter. Sulphurs have started to come off on Manatawny Creek and it's tributaries. There are still a gazillion people fishing every single day. Almost time to change gears to panfish or FLATHEAD CATFISH!! Morel Mushrooms were all over the place. My buddy Nate really found a boatload. The kdis and I found more this year than any previous year. But, they should be done and we'll have to wait for some Chanterelles to pop up. If you don't know what mushroom it is, leave it alone. It is that simple. Are the panfish spawning yet?

I have seen Hendrickson, BWO and Quill Gordon Mayflies this past week. There are still plenty of trout to be caught. Live bait is KILLER just after a rain event. Stickbaits are doing well as are inline spinners. Fishing into the darkness has been paying off in multiple ways. No people to deal with and the fish are eating bugs after the lights go out. Soon enough the Sulphurs will be around. Get away from the stockpoints and avoid the crowds. Fish have spread out. Stay safe and as always; "Live to be OnTheWater" Need some awesome bugs to sling around, give me a shout. Vin's Bug Shoppe is alive and kicking and materials are starting to show up.

Overcrowding at stock points has me steering clear of those areas. It looks like a pay fishing pond on many waterways. Bugs have dwindled as the air temps are still in the 30s at some point during the day. BWO dry flies and soft-hackles have done well. Live bait has been putting fish on the end of the line. Still tying flies, so if you need to fill your box or want a specific set of bugs, please give me a shout. Local pick-up or I can mail your flies out. Hopefully warmer weather is on the horizon and we can start panfishing the shallows. Soon enough, Flathead catfish will be on the menu. Have fun, stay safe and always,"Live to be OnTheWater". I keep wanting to put more videos out there, but WINDSTREAM is the most awful internet provider on the planet. 15 years of disappointment, but there is no other option.

Wild trout fishing has been exceptional. Blue Winged Olives are your bread and butter right now. Found a Quill Gordon crawling to the shore to hatch. Won't be long now. Fish are fat and healthy, stuffed with nymphs and crayfish. BWO dry flies on the surface has fooled many trout this month, but fishing a 3 wetfly or soft-hackle rig has been the bee's knees.
Get those Ambrose Custom Lures stickbaits out when the waters are rising and then starting to fall after a rain event. Absolutely deadly.
