What a beast of a fish!!!
December 19, 2011
Spent 2 hours out and about today. Hit 4 different streams and all but one produced fish. Stuck with the pink worm and stickbait. Although, I did find one rainbow trout that was sipping midges. I put on a beadhead caddis and the fish took it. All in all, a pretty good time.
December 16, 2011
Was out and about today for a little bit. The waters are cold and the fish are very sluggish. I had more nips than hook-ups, but I was still able to land a good number of fish.
December 14, 2011
Escaped for about an hour today. Landed a few fish from a wild trout stream. I didn't take a water temp, but it was absolutely chilly. Air temps in the 40's.
December 07, 2011
Fished for a bit around noon. The creek was rising and the fish were a bit sluggish, but I was able to tempt a few wild browns to hit my Yozuri stick bait. I was going to head back out in the afternoon with some Berkley Pink Trout worms, but decided not to.
December 06, 2011
With the warmer than usual temperatures, the wild trout fishing in Berks County has been pretty good. Here is a picture of a nice fish that I landed today. The fish took drag !!!! I spoke with James at Beulah today and they love my picture. I was told it will be used in a brochure. Hopefully all will work out and my name will get put on the picture. That will be totally awesome.
November 21, 2011
Fished with the family for a little bit yesterday. Mostly just to take a hike and get some exercise. We missed a few fish but landed onepretty wild brown trouton a Berkely Trout Worm. I can't say enough good things about these baits. I don't question why, but I will say that the Berkley Trout Worm in a PINK or ORANGE color will usually get you a few bites. With that being said, I have created my own Pink Worm that has enabled me to land many trout, both wild and stocked. If you are not mixing it up and tossing some pink or orange worms, you are certanly missing out.

Not sure what the deal is with Yahoo, but they are screwing up my typed words. Putting words together and putting everything really tight on the page. So, I am sorry for that.
Now, when the power is out for 7 days and the clean-up effort at your house is over, you need a few hours to unwind. The best way to do that is to chase some wild trout with nobody else around. I managed about 2 hours on a local Class A water and the fishing was pretty good. I landed a few fish, lost a few fish-- gained some sanity.
October 28, 2011
Just got home from a few days on the Salmon River, NY. If you have the days, race up there now.......the river is polluted with King Salmon and a few Coho Salmon........I will post pics and a more detailed report when I have time......Seriously, get up there this weekend........before it is all over.........
October 7, 2011
Managed a few hours fishing on some wild trout streams. The fish are somewhat still looking up, but were more interested in nymphs. Get out now and fish before the LEAF hatch hits us. The leaf hatch usually messes up fishing for a week or two. A few local streams were scheduled to be stocked with trout-- Manatawny Creek, Hay Creek and Tulpehocken Creek. Steelhead fishing in Erie will be getting into full swing shortly. Can't wait for the annual trip to the Salmon River. I should be in very good company this year with my best friend Mark and a college buddy named Mark joining in the fun. If you want to fish Erie Tribs, give me a shout !! Guided Trips are as affordable as I can make them !!! I'm still selling Salmon and Steelhead flies with many orders already out the door. If you want to hit up Penns Creek, day trips can be arranged. Now is time to hit Penns with big lures or streamers. The big browns will be looking for nice-sized meals before they kick into spawn mode.
Sept 22, 2011
Took Vin for a ride and we hit a Class A wild trout water this morning before school. First we had to catch our bait--which was a blast to do. Then off we went to catch some wild trout on Mr. Brown High-Collars. We had a blast !!! The water temps are perfect. The flow is perfect. Now is the time to fish for wild trout !!! If you would like to set up a 1/2 day trip or even a full day trip, give me a shout. This is the most beautiful time of the year to fish. The leaves are changing, the temperatures are cooling.......absolutely awesome time to be OnTheWater.
Sept 19, 2011
Escaped to a Class A wild trout stream after I put my son on the bus. Water was perfect. I had a few trout chasing dries. My CDC Mothra put a few fish on the end of the line, as did a black cricket. My beadtail caddis nymph accounted for a few fish also.It was a good day 2Bonthewater.
September 11, 2011
Hit Manatawny Creek for about an hour today. I took the spinning gear. I should have taken heavier gear. The Manny was still up and was flowing at a good rate. The water was cold and wet wading might be over for the year. I managed a few smallmouths and had a nice brown follow my 3-inch stickbait for about 15 yards. It was pretty cool, the water was clear and you could see the fish slash and slash at the stickbait.
August 30, 2011
Irene has come and gone. Can't wait to fish all the local streams, as they all will have a new look and feel to them. Designs by Mother Nature, it doesn't get any better. The mornings have been cold and I love the crisp feel to the air. It only means one thing: The salmon will be on the move very soon. I hope every one is checking out their steelhead and salmon gear and making sure everything is in order.
August 01, 2011
Not much fishing being done at the moment. I might try to hit the Tully tomorrow morning for some Carp before my dentist appointment. We'll see though. I've been hitting the vise and tying up some egg flies and a few Death Stoneflies. October will be here quicker than you know. If you want a guided trip to Erie, give me a shout. Best to book your dates early. I have no idea what Erie will look come late October, early November, but I am hoping they get some serious rain up there. I have a trip to New York scheduled with my friends late October. I can't wait to tag a few salmon and steelhead. Put up a few egg pattern pics on the flies page.
July 18, 2011
95 degrees outside---Hmmm, what do you do? You take your rugrats to a creek after you hit BK for some free Whoppers. Both rugrats were tearing them up left and right. We started out using soft plastics that resembled minnows and crayfish. The fish were all over them and the rugrats had a few doubles. Then Vinny says Daddy, we should try a pink worm. Can't argue with that statement. Now the kids were into Rock Bass like there was no tomorrow. All in all we landed 8 species of fish: Largemouth Bass, Smallmouth Bass, Rock Bass, Redbreast Sunfish, Bluegill, Green Sunfish, Fallfish and a Crappie. It was one of those awesome days. The local fish and boat officer showed up and the kids showed John how to land some fish. The only thing I had to do was cast and remove fish. The kids worked the rods and brought the fish to hand. Vinny started to cast on his own and actually landed a nice smallmouth bass. It was pretty awesome. No help at all other than removing the fish from the hook !! We stopped at DQ for some cold drinks and then headed home. You couldnt chisel the smile off my face. One funny note: The kids just had a double and I said: you guys are the best clients ever. Zoe goes: Daddy, we'll have to pay you then, how much money daddy? I go-- you dont have to pay me, Im your daddy. Zoe, goes OK, so whatever you want you can have it. I go, OK Zoe, I want your air conditioner. She looks at me with a absolutely no freakn way look and goes, so daddy, How much money do I have to pay you. It was awesome.
This was the longest I think I have had the kids out fishing. Almost 3 full hours. If you have rugrats, please get your kids out there fishing. There is no better way to cool down in the summer heat than wet wading and catching some fish. What an awesome day. As always, It's good 2Bonthewater.
July 14, 2011
Escaped for about 3 hours to Maiden Creek. I was searching for Carp, but none were to be found. I managed to land a good number of fish on a Hex nymph and a beetle pattern. Smallies, Largemouth Bass, Redbreast Sunfish, Bluegill and a White Perch were the fish I brought to hand. I did spot a Tiger Musky and a few suckers in one pool. The fish were not big by any means, but it is always fun to get out and wet a line.
July 07, 2011
OnTheWater by 555am........and there they were-- clouds of mayfly heaven. It was 815am and they still had not dropped to the water and then the clouds vanished. I packed it up and hit a different section of the creek. Picked up 2 nice browns on a cdc micro-caddis. I was off the water by 9am. It was 82 degrees by 9am, way too hot for me.
July 4th Weekend !!!
I fished Saturday evening, Sunday morning and Sunday evening before heading back home. The temps during the day were brutal and the skeeters made me pay for attempting to fish Cherry Run. The temps on Penns were 68 degrees in the areas I was fishing. I only fished where some cool tributary water emptied into Penns.Saturday was tricky with a few bugs in the air. I would miss a fish, catch a fish--then change flies and repeat. Sunday morning it was BWOs early and then Isos. Sunday evening was reverse fashion -- Isos then BWOs.I got a half-decent picture of a Iso stuck in the shuck. Most of the fish I caught were taken with a BIG rusty spinner or smaller BWO. I did bust off two nice fish, I saw the one, it was over 20 inches--- I hooked the fish, it shook its head..it dove the bottom, shook its head again..then blasted downstream. All of a sudden the line just stopped dead. The fish went into some sort of tangle--it was fun while it lasted. The biggest fish I landed was 14.5 inches, fat and healthy. The fish took a CDC Sulphur pattern -- it was DARK, no light at all when the fish took the fly. It was an awesome take and a fun battle in the dark. I stayed off Penns during the heat of the day-- it was 90 degrees in the afternoon on both days. I made an attempt to fish Cherry Run and landed 2 brookies in short order on my Moth pattern. I was just getting to a good stretch of water when the skeeters decided to attack. All I heard was buzzing. Very Loud Buzzing. They were everywhere. I packed it up and headed to my friends cabin. Ronnie is always a great host and did find the time to wet a line with me. We were tossing some nymphs in some really nice water. A few chubs and fallfish were our reward. Noticed 2 guys fishing bait in the C & R area. We let them know that bait was not allowed. We were polite, but the first words out of the guys mouth were, I didnt seeany signs !! I didnt read anything in the fish and boat book!! The sportsman then proceeds to tell me that he is going to cross the creek and kick my BLEEPITY BLEEP. Whatever. Spoke to the gentleman again, with Ronnie explaining that the area is posted and the signs are on the road. The sportsman mumbled some stuff to his buddy and then they left.
Flies that caught fish were: cdc micro-caddis, rusty spinner, sulphur, bwo, shuttlecock, foam bug and a light cahill. The fish really liked the shuttlecock pattern. Flies that were half-in / half-out worked nicely. They are easy to see too, especially when the wings are made of CDC.
I won't be out fishing again any time soon. My left shoulder is on fire and I can't seem to aleviate the pain. Locally, the Schuylkill River and other warmwater creeks should be fishing nicely. If you want to wet a line--give me a shout and I'll do my best to put you on some fish.
Trout fishing locally will cease with water temps hovering around 70 degrees. The best way to get in some trout fishing is to set up a day trip with me. We can spend a day fishing central PA's finest trout waters. Big Spring Creek, Letort, Yellow Breeches, Big Fishing Creek or Spring Creek are some of the streams that are fishable in the summer. We can also hike along some cool mountain creeks in search of native brook trout or wild brown trout. As always -- Live to be OnTheWater.
July 01, 2011
Spent the evening showing Joe around a local Class A water and then we hit the Manny. Joe had fish rising to take a small tan caddis, BWO emergerand a brown spent spinner. My sulpher pattern brought a pair of nice browns to the surface. The best trick at the Manny was to twitch a tandem nymph rig. Joe hooked a fish or two in the dark using the nymphs.
June 24-26, 2011
Took the kids to Manatawny Creek for a short time and they each caught a fish. Vinny caught a Smallmouth Bass on a worm and Zoe landed a nice-sized Brown Trout on a crayfish lure. The kids were content to just be wading in the creek. Managed to get more time on Mahantango Creek with my buddy Mark. Plenty of fish caught. Early on it was nymphs, but as evening came on--I switched to brown/tan wooly bugger slowly stripped in. The Fallfish, Smallies and Rock Bass could not resist the bugger. All the trout caught were on nymphs. Seen a few Slate Drakes scoot off the water. Once again, it was a great day 2Bonthewater.
June 20, 2011
Spent the day fishing with my good friend Mark. We hit Unami Creek and a local Class A water. Mark fished with spinners and worms and I chucked all types of flies. We caught many Redbreast Sunfish, Bluegills, Smallmouth Bass and a few trout. It was a great day 2Bonthewater. Oh Yeah, I forgot to mention that I saw a monster Largemouth Bass---by monster, I mean over 20 inches :-)
June 16, 2011
Fished a Class A water yesterday for 2 hours. It was raining and there were Blue-Winged Olive spinners all over the place. With that being said, a BWO emerger and a sulphur CDC dry fly worked the best. I tagged a heavy fish, but the fish was slick and spit the hook. Won't get out much on the weekend. Tball party Saturday and umpiring a little league game on Father's Day. I'll probably be fishing with a friend on Sunday evening or taking the rugrats to drown some worms!!! Enjoy the cool weather and Live to be OnTheWater.
June 06, 2011
Fished with Ed tonight. The fish were cooperative in one location and not so cooperative at another. A few sulphurs on the water with most fish chasing emergers. Ed did a great job catching fish with a cricket and a sulphur pattern. All brown trout with one wild brownie thrown into the mix. No spinners tonight.
June 04/05, 2011
Fished Manatawny Creek for a few hours in the evening on Saturday. Sulphurs coming off at about 630pm. The fish were taking the duns--which made for a good time. I moved locations and switched over to nymphs and picked a few fish up.
Sunday, I was able to fish a local Class A water and noticed many Blue-Winged Olive spinners. There was a bluup here and a bluup there. I picked up a few fish ona BWO emerger pattern and a PT. Beautiful fish !!!
June 02, 2011
Fished from about 8pm to 930pm. The last fish I landed was at 930pm and the fish took a large brown spent spinner. Started the evening off landing a beautiful wild brown trout on a sulpher emerger. Then a couple on dry sulphurs, then spinners. Not much action bugwise. Noticed a Cahill spinner and a couple sulphur spinners. Nice cool night to be out. Plenty of cream midges too, almost choking on them.
May 26, 28, 29,2011
Thursday night hit the Manny for a short amount of time. They were hammering emergers, just not my emergers !! The fish went from emergers to spinners. Just then, the mosquitoes and mother nature started to play around. The sky went black and the lightning was evident. I managed one fish landed, one fish missed and one fish lost before I had to run to the truck. Saturday night some sulphur duns showed up and then spinners. Managed a few fish, but the mosquitoes got the best of me and I left the water. Take a headlamp and fish well into the night. You won't be let down. Bring an assortment of Sulphur emergers, Sulphurs dries and Sulphur spinners. It might take a few casts, but once you get dialed in........you'll be saying, it's good 2Bonthewater. I hit the water at about 8pm tonight........sulphur duns and sulphur emergers were on the menu again. There was no spinnerfall and the feeding stopped abruptly at about 920 pm. Best trick tonight was to cast down and across and inch an emerger back to the shore, pausing it at spots were a fish just rose.
May 24, 2011
It was a windy day on Manatawny Creek. There were no rises seen. I fished with nymphs and had a pretty good afternoon. The last fish I caught was taken on a Cricket. The take was all in slow motion. I made my cast---the fish slid out from under the brush---he sat in a lane with his mouth open waiting for my fly---with ease, he swallowed the fly. Fish On. I landed a nice holdover brownie and called it a day. No wild trout today, but the Rainbows were very colored up with beautiful pink fins and the Browns looked like they have been living in the stream for years.
May 23, 2011
Spent the day with Joe. We had a great time fishing Hay Creek and Manatawny Creek. Both creeks produced many strikes, mulitple hookups and a few nice trout landed. It was a great day 2Bonthewater !!
May 21, 2011
The last 3 days or so it has done nothing but rain !! Thursday was brutal where I saw creeks that were in perfect shape one minute, turn into Willy Wonka within' two hours. As of this morning, Class A waters have receded and are running clear. If we don't get any rain, the local streams will remain fishable. I saw some midges and a handful of chartreuse Little Stoneflies flying around. A big thanks to Joe for being flexable with his schedule. Monday will not get here soon enough.
May 16, 2011
The local Class A waters look outstanding. Manatawny Creek is perfect. Get out before the rain soaks us. Zoe wanted to fish some nightcrawlers, so we headed to the creek after school. Fished for 1/2 an hour or so. I love watching the kids smile everytime they reel a fish in. I hope they keep that excitement forever.
May 14/15, 2011
Manatawny Creek fished pretty darn good on Saturday. Sulphurs and Cahills in the air with a few caddis mixed in. Emergers before dusk and then dries when it was getting dark. Fish are really on the emergers. I volunteered a few hours Sunday morning with the A Great Day Outdoors fellas, Roger and Bob who help put together the Bob and Jeff Miller Trout Fishing Clinic, which is a mentoring program for the Big Brothers and Big Sisters. The fish were provided by Mike's Tattoo and Body Piercing that is located in Reading, PA. The kids were smiling ear to ear with every fish they dragged to the shoreline. It was an awesome morning !! Thanks to Roger and Bob for letting me hangout. I helped a few kids land some trout and was able to see many folks that I have not seen in a few years. After the rodeo, I took the family for a hike along a Berks County trout stream. We had a great time and found some really neat critters and managed to catch a fish or two. All in all, the weekend was outstanding. Hopefully Mother Nature won't drop too much rain on us during the upcoming week.
May 13, 2011
Took my son to a local creek to fish for an hour or two. He wanted to fish with worms, so we fished with worms!! We caught a good number of wild brown trout and missed many more.
The slower pools had fish sipping in Little Yellow Stoneflies. I saw a few that were yellow and a few that were chartreuse green. Here is a pic of the biggest fish we caught--It took Vinny a few minutes to land.
May 08, 2011
It is Mother's Day, so what do you do? Plenty of yardwork to make the little woman happy, drive happy little woman to her mother's house and call your best friend to go fish a stream you have not fished in about 15 years. Great Plan. Fished Mahantango Creek with Mark. The water was raging and a fly rod was a terrible choice. There were plenty of March Browns popping off the water and not one rise. Spent most of the day hurling lead and really pushing my 4/5 wt Fly Logic. In the end, Iopted to share a spinning rod with my friend. We landed plenty of Rainbow Trout and Fallfish using Mr. Brown High Collars and Gulp Corn. Some of the fallfish were monsters. The March Brown spinner fall started at about 715pm. It was awesome, but not one rising fish.
May 07, 2011
Hit the Manny today for 1.5 hours. Fished in the evening after some rain. The temps were dropping, the fog was thick and I figured to find some BWOs. I figured wrong. Dry flies were not on the menu. I went with a 2 nymph rig and got into a few fish. Saw a huge Barred Owl fly up the stream and hang out in a tree for a little bit before he flew elsewhere. There were a few rises when it was pitch black. There were a handful of caddis on the water and a boatload of craneflies. There was a fisherman there using worms and a spinner. He was into the fish pretty good. He launched them up out of the water and onto the dirt bank like the bass fisherman do on tv. Then he popped out the hook and kicked the fish back into the water. After I saw him boot his 4th fish in about 20 minutes, he goes: That's what I came here for. OK then.
May 06, 2011
Had 2 clients out late morning / early afternoon on Manatawny Creek. I saw one rising fish during our time. Fish were caught with subsurface patterns-- Sulphur Emerger and red Zebra Midge. The only bugs I saw in the air were Tan Caddis and Black Caddis. The Sulphurs should be popping any day now. Thanks to Rich and Tom for a great few hours.
May 01, 2011
Osama is DEAD.
April 26, 2011
Escaped to a wild trout stream tonight. Noticed a few Hendricksons in the air, but the trout were not focused on them. I took off the dry fly and swung an olive/black wooly bugger. The trout certainly liked that decision. I even found a morel !
April 24, 2011
Fished a wild trout stream and was surprised to see a few people out and about. I managed 2 browns on a nymph. Didn't stay long and then I headed to the Manny. Water was up and moving. Tan caddis flies were all over the place. The only other bugs I saw were craneflies. I managed a few on caddis dries and emergers. Just for kicks, I broke out the spinning rod and caught a nice rainbow on a stickbait. With the rain we received last night, it might be late Tuesday or Wednesday before she fishes OK.
April 18, 2011
With the local weather guys stating therest of the week is looking very gloomy--I made a dash to the Manny tonight for 2 hours. The only bugs in the air were craneflies. I started out with dries and drew no attention. Switched to subsurface stuff and picked up a rainbow on a Larva Lace worm. I switched to dries in an attempt to force feed them my bugs. It worked. A rise here, a rise there. Ended up landing a few fish on dry flies. The water is up and moving, but clear. Most local Class A waters were just about out of their banks a day ago. If we get the predicted rain, the streams will easily be up and over their banks.
April 14, 2011
Zoe wanted to fish, so we ran out the door the minute her mommy got home from work. We fished for about an hour before we needed to leave for a potty break. The fish were chasing emergers. We missed a few and landed a couple. Two fish were real nice wild brown trout. One was a nice-chunky stocker brown. I tried to let Zoe cast on her own, but she was real rusty. So, her casting didn't last all too long !!! Didn't take a water temp.
April 11, 2011
Took Vinny out to fish this afternoon. Water temp was 56 degrees. We tried a Hendrickson at first, but quickly switched to a Little Black Stonefly dry. I had to help the little dude cast, it was pretty tight. We managed to land 2 fish in short order. One was about 12 inches. The action was picking up !! Then Vinny said he was hungry. So we packed up, went home and had sausage sandwiches. I was able to escape for a few mintues by myself at about 650pm. Managed a wild brown on a CDC Hendrickson. Not a bad way to spend the first 80 degree day of the year.
April 7, 2011
Fished Manatawny Creek for 2 hours. Several risers with a few fish brought to hand. Had the creek all to myself with exception to the last 30-minutes. I shared the water with a father / son combo that were throwing spinners. The young man caught a nice trout on an orange spinner. It was a good evening to be out.
April 5, 2011
Just a few days into the new trout season and I have not made it to any of the stocked streams yet !! Rain last night and today has the creeks up a little bit. I'll share 3 secrets to high/dirty water trout fishing. One-- night crawlers are insanely tough to beat when the water is cold, high and dirty. Two-- a stickbait--a Yozuri Pin's Minnow is my favorite-- is also tough to beat during cold, high and dirty water conditions. Three -- My favoritefor fly fishing is a 2 fly rig that consists of a bigger and brighter glowbug with a Green Weenie dropped off of it. I spent an afternoon last year on the Manny fishing bugs and had only one strike. I know the fish were there, but they were not taking my bugs. As I was making my way back to the truck, I kept fishing. I changed my flies to a sucker spawn (chartreuse/purple) and dropped a green weenie off it. The fish were hammering the sucker spawn. I won't say how may fish I hooked into, but it was more than enough to save the day. If the fish don't want bugs.........change it up !!! If there are rainbows around, they will hammer a nicely presented egg pattern pretty much any time of the year. Don't overlook Estaz eggs indirty water. I have landed many trout on estaz egg patterns. And the best color for trout? PEACH.
April 3, 2011
Didn't make it out this weekend. The kids had TBall and so much else going on. If anyone has a report, please send it to me. I'm hoping to get out later in the week. This was the first opening day in over 20 years that I missed.
March 30, 2011
Fished a Class A wild trout stream for a few hours today. Didn't take a stream temperature, but the water is still on the cold side of spring. I found a few risers who were chasing little black stoneflies. I managed to fool a couple of trout while using a CDC Ant and a fly called a Shuttlecock. I missed a few fish on a CDC midge cluster and a griffiths gnat.
March 25, 2011
Fishing conditions have been mixed with all the goofy weather. Roasting one day, rain the next--followed by snow !! Local Class A waters are running at agood rate and are still on the cold side.
Trout season opens next weekend for SE PA waters. Good luck !!!
March 02, 2011
Spent a few hours today chasing some trout. Lasted an hour on a Class A stream before realizing the water was still too cold. I did see some midges flying around. Headed to the Little Lehigh and when I got there the lot was full and anglers were top to bottom. The wind was ripping. I managed a few trout with a red zebra midge being the hot fly of the day. Spring is almost here.
February 17, 2011
Fished Ontelaunee with Vin. Fished the quarry hole and managed toland a few bluegill and a good number of smaller Largemouth Bass. We fished for 2 hours and the fish were biting most of the time we were there. Smaller tungsten jigs tipped with waxies did the trick. Most ofthe bass were taken on smaller ice spoons tipped with waxies. With the heatwave we are in, not sure how much longer the ice will be around. I think the kids and I will pack it up for the year.
February 14, 2011
Fished Antietam Lake during the death lull hours. Little Vinny caught a couple Yellow Perch and Bluegills. Ice wasover 12 inches thick. Plenty of water on top and the CRUD oily film that shows up every year was all too present.
February 13, 2011
Fished Peters Creek Cove area with the kids this afternoon. They caught plenty of bluegills and enjoyed fishing inside the shelter and sight fishing. Zoe managed to hook two nice sized crappies. She didn't land any of them. The one was over 15 inches, IT WAS A MONSTER. The ice was easier to drill through today with my 4.5 inch Nils Ice Auger. Ice was maybe half as thick as yesterday. Plenty of nice folks out catching fish. It was a beautiful afternoon.
February 12, 2011
Fished Ontelaunee Lake alongside Rt. 73. Plenty of bluegill, a few crappies and one very small largemouth bass were caught. The ice thickness was about 14 inches. Smaller baits were the ticket. Drilling through the ice with my Nils 8 inch ice auger was too much for my shoulders.
Hey, I have an 8 inch Nils Ice Auger for sale !!! Like new condition !!! Seriously, too much for my shoulders.
February 08, 2011
Hit Peters Creek Cove area of Ontelaunee today with Vinny. IT WAS BRUTAL. The wind was insane. It took about 10 minutes to get the shelter up in the wind. Drilled a few holes and couldn't get out of the weeds. I went searching for a new spot and I caught one gill. Decision was made to move the shelter and I was parasailing. What a tough time getting the shelter up. But, the little dude wanted to catch a fish. Shelter up with two holes drilled inside. Little man landed two bluegill and then the wind was too much. When we got there I saw about 3 people on the ice. We were the last ones on the ice. The ice has receded about 20 yards or so since Sunday.
February 06, 2011
I asked Zoe where she would like to ice fish and she said Ontelaunee. There were folks all over the ice. We decided to hit Peters Creek Cove area. I no sooner set up the shelter and drilled a few holes and Zoe was in business. The Bluegill didn't stand a chance. We fished from 130 pm to 5 pm. There was a lull in the action around 3pm. Zoe was sight fishing from 3-5 pm. She had a blast watching the bluegills swim up and nip her shrimpo jig. We caught plenty of bluegill and one nice 13-inch Largemouth Bass. The PFBC was on the ice and it was the first time in over 10 years that I had my license checked. We started the day using tungsten jigs, then switched to shrimpos and did some sight fishing. The bass was caught on a small jigging spoon. We were fishing in 5 feet of water and the fish were buried in the weeds. Tons of beautiful swans were in cove and their shatter was non-stop.
