Plenty of smallies and panfish can be found in most lower sections of Approved Trout waters. Fished low yesterday and landed a boatload of species. Four legal smallies and two were impressive fish. Hot lures have been Tiny Torpedo, Bomber Model A crayfish crankbait, yellow twister tail and a soft-bodied crayfish on a jig. The fish are there, but you can't catch them from your couch. Work sucks, but use your days off wisely. Hit the SKUKE and its tributaries. You will be rewarded. Catfishing should be stellar about now. Either FLATHEAD or Channel cats. Use the proper baits and maybe, just maybe you'll be reeling in the next state record FLATHEAD CATFISH.
I cannot find any LARGE VINYL RIB. I was told last year, they stopped production on LARGE. I bought up as many spools as I could find. This will put a hurting on the production of my DEATH STONEFLY nymph. I can use medium rib, but it is just not the same. We'll see. We are moving. So, in the past if you just swung by the house to buy flies, please don't. I won't be there!! Odds are, I will be posting Death Stonefly nymphs on Ebay and this website for sale. Might not have the option for CUSTOM ORDERS this year due to the unavailability of the LARGE VINYL RIB.

Welp, it has been a very productive Spring season for Trout. Trout fishing is still available, just keep an eye on water temperatures. Landed many trout last week fishing CICADA patterns. INSANE topwater action. Hit the river for some FLATHEAD catfish and found chocolate milk and raging water. Still managed to bank 2 Flatheads. Smallies are starting to smack lures. Get off the couch and "Live to be OnTheWater"
April 26
Past few weeks have seen some bugs on the water. Mostly it has been BWOs getting the job done. Fishing a size 16 BWO emerger has brought some nice strikes. Still a bit chilly temperature wise above and below the water. Kid wrestled at Bloomsburg over the weekend, finished 4th, but let some major opportunities escape him-- So, we spent a few hours on Fishing Creek near Benton. Utterly disgusted with a stream I fished weekly for so many years. More posted signs than fish. Saw plenty of bugs on Fishing Creek; egg-laying caddis, Hendrickson, BWO, Little Black Stonefly and brown stonefly. No fish working the surface, nor chasing emergers. I just can't get over how much property is posted. Penns Creek should be close to being on fire. We are almost at that electric time of the year when the bugs are active and the fish are on the bugs.
April 13
Opening Day we made a run to Penns Creek. It was high and cold. Stopped at a creek on the SKOOK on the way home and we each nabbed a fish with Vin, somehow missing the hookset on a 24inch or so rainbow trout. Seen a Quill Gordon here and there, same with Hendrickson. BWOs are still out and about. Most luck as of late has come with a micro-caddis or Quill Gordon dry fly. Nabbed a nice Golden Rainbow Trout on one of my beadtail caddis flies. Lost another golden too!! Fish are out there but you can't catch them from your couch. Ambrose stickbaits are still crushing a few fish. Finding the Redfin and Brown Trout ones have been working as of late. Vin nabbed a dandy brown the other day on a larger Redfin stickbait.
March 27
Mentored Youth Day. Hit the Manatawny with Vin for our last youth opener. Kid smacked some fish and we had a great time enjoying the warm weather. We moved around and did more walking than fishing. Didn't want to crowd anybody and we left spots so families could fish. One family though, Grandpa, his Son-Dad and his son. Both adults fishing with one youth. They rushed to a spot we were wading too. They couldn't fish it from the bank but tried to, cutting our drifts off. We left and headed back upstream. Low and behold, right on our heels was this family. Ridiculous. We headed back to the spot and continued working our way downstream. Vin took note by saying: Daddy, most people are really nice and some are jerks; but there is no in between, they are either one or the other. Yes little buddy they are, that is why we just keep moving and don't sweat it. Caddis were all over the place, along with midges and little black stoneflies. Soon enough, it will be Hendrickson and Quill Gordon time, maybe on the opener this Saturday; April 3rd. Good luck and have fun.
March 24
Blue-Winged Olives are out and about. So are some caddis. It is almost go time. Wild Brown trout have put on the feedbag. Tully KEYSTONE SELECT delayed harvest water has been stocked with monsters. Youth opener this Saturday.
January 1 and 2
Spent the first day of the new year exploring locally. Nabbed a few nice Wild Brown Trout while fishing Ambrose Custome Lures stickbaits. Jan 2nd, myself and Ambrose headed to POHOPOCO creek. MEH. We each landed a fish. I had two others come unbuttoned. I was hoping to see many more fish slashing and dashing at our stickbaits. We stopped at a Delayed Harvest water on the way home and we each landed a few fish. A pair of nice rainbows and a BEAUTIFUL wild brown trout took top honors. Weather was chilly on the first; but the fish didn't care. Sunny and windy while at POHOPOCO. Man did POHOPOCO look awesome, but ultimately...not much doing.
